project was undertaken as part of the "Discovering Democracy Project".
The research topic assigned to Grade 5/6 at Orford Primary School was called
"Our Town". We were asked to report on some of the characteristics
of a significant historical period and its effects on the civic structure
and identity of the local community of which the school is a part.
"Our Town" is Orford, a small settlement on the east coast of Tasmania,, Australia. The photo below is an aerial view of Orford taken in 1966. Advice collected in this trial will be analysed and incorporated into a teacher manual which will include case studies and work samples. Orford Primary School is proud to be part of this. |
